There are so many stars in the universe that nobody could ever count them all! Just in our Milky Way galaxy, there are over 100 billion stars. And there are billions of galaxies out there too. That adds up to more stars than you could ever imagine!
Scientists use powerful telescopes to look at small patches of the sky and count the stars they can see. Then they use math to estimate how many stars are in the whole universe. The numbers are so big that they are hard to understand! Scientists think there might be around 200 billion trillion stars in the observable universe.
- There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth.
- You can only see about 2,500 stars with your eyes on a clear night.
- Every star you see in the night sky is in our own Milky Way galaxy!
