The Danube River is the second longest river in Europe. It flows about 1,770 miles from Germany all the way to the Black Sea. The Danube passes through more countries than any other river in the world. It touches ten countries, including Austria, Hungary, and Romania.
The Danube Delta, where the river meets the Black Sea, is a huge wetland full of wildlife. Over 300 kinds of birds live there, including pelicans and herons. Sturgeon, otters, and wild cats also call the delta home. It is one of the best places in Europe to see wild animals.
