Niagara Falls is a set of three waterfalls on the border between the United States and Canada. The largest one is called Horseshoe Falls because it is curved like a horseshoe. About 750,000 gallons of water rush over the edge every single second!
Visitors can ride a boat called the Maid of the Mist right up to the base of the falls. Everyone on the boat gets soaked by the spray! At night, bright colored lights shine on the water. The falls were formed about 12,000 years ago when glaciers from the last ice age melted.
- The falls are still moving backward a tiny bit each year as the water keeps wearing away the rock.
- The falls also create a huge amount of electricity that powers homes nearby.
- That is enough water flowing every second to fill a bathtub in less than a blink!
