Asia is the biggest continent in the world! It covers about one-third of all the land on Earth. More than 4.7 billion people live in Asia. That means more than half of all the people on the planet live on this one continent. Asia has 49 countries, including China, India, and Japan.

Asia has many different climates. Parts of Siberia in Russia are freezing cold, while parts of Southeast Asia are hot and rainy all year. Giant pandas live in the mountains of China, and Bengal tigers live in the forests of India. The Great Wall of China stretches over 13,000 miles and is one of the most famous landmarks in the world.

Asia is located mostly in the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres. It stretches from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Indian Ocean in the south. Europe is to its west, and the Pacific Ocean is to its east.

• Asia is home to Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on Earth. It is over 29,000 feet high. That is so tall that airplanes sometimes fly lower than its peak!
• Asia also has the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on land.
• More than 2,000 different languages are spoken across the continent.
