Mae Jemison is a doctor, engineer, and astronaut who made history! She became the very first Black woman to travel into space. Mae dreamed of flying among the stars when she was just a little girl. She worked hard and never gave up on her big dreams. Her story shows us that you can do anything if you believe in yourself!

When Mae was a little girl, she loved watching the stars at night. She was curious about everything and loved science. Mae worked very hard in school and learned all about how the human body works. She became a doctor and helped people in faraway countries. But she still dreamed of going even higher, all the way up to space!

In 1992, Mae flew on the Space Shuttle Endeavour. She was chosen for the NASA astronaut program because she was so talented. While floating high above the Earth, she did fun science experiments to see how things act in zero gravity. Her mission was a giant success and made people everywhere very proud!
