Male peacocks have blue and green feathers on their huge tail. Each feather has a spot that looks like an eye! Female peacocks, called peahens, are brown and gray so they can hide in the grass. Male peacocks grow their fancy tail feathers to impress the females.
Peacocks eat seeds, bugs, and small animals. They also eat plants and berries. Peacocks scratch the ground with their feet to find food, just like chickens do.
- Peacocks can fly, but they mostly walk on the ground.
- They make loud calls that sound like they are saying “help!” A peacock’s tail feathers can be five feet long, which is longer than most kids are tall!
