Flamingos are tall pink birds with very long legs. They like to stand on one leg, which looks really silly! Flamingos are some of the most colorful birds in the world.
Flamingos get their pink color from the food they eat. If they did not eat that food, they would be white! They have long, curved necks and a special bent beak. Baby flamingos are born with white or gray feathers.
- Flamingos eat tiny shrimp and algae that make them turn pink.
- A group of flamingos is called a “flamboyance.” Flamingos can stand on one leg for hours, and scientists think they do it to stay warm!
