South America is the fourth largest continent. It has 12 countries, and Brazil is the biggest one. About 430 million people live in South America. Most people there speak Spanish, but in Brazil they speak Portuguese.
The Amazon Rainforest covers a huge part of South America. It is the largest rainforest in the world and is about half the size of the United States. More types of plants and animals live in the Amazon than almost anywhere else on Earth. You can find colorful macaws, poison dart frogs, and jaguars there.
