Zero gravity is when astronauts and objects float inside a spacecraft! It feels like you are weightless. Everything floats around, including food, water, and even the astronauts themselves. It looks like so much fun!
Even though it looks like there is no gravity, Earth is still pulling on the space station. The astronauts float because they and the station are all falling together in a big circle around Earth. It is kind of like how you feel lighter on a roller coaster going over a hill, but in space that feeling never stops!
- In zero gravity, astronauts can do somersaults in the air any time they want.
- Water floats as wobbly bubbles instead of falling into a glass.
- Astronauts have to strap themselves into sleeping bags so they do not float away while they sleep!
