Outer space is everything beyond Earth’s air. It starts about 62 miles above your head! Up there, there is no air to breathe and it is very quiet. Space is home to stars, planets, moons, and so much more.
Most of outer space is empty, but it also has amazing things in it. There are billions of galaxies, and each galaxy has billions of stars. Scientists have found planets going around other stars and giant clouds of colorful gas called nebulas. They keep discovering new things every year!
- Space does not have a floor or ceiling, so there is no up or down.
- If you went to space without a spacesuit, you could not survive for even one minute.
- The boundary where space begins is called the Karman Line!
