Presidents’ Day is a special day in February when we celebrate the leaders of our country! We celebrate this holiday because two of our most famous presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, were both born in February.
The president is the leader of the United States and lives in a big, famous house called the White House. Presidents’ Day is a time to remember all the people who have led our nation and helped it grow. Many schools teach kids about famous presidents on this day. It is a fun day to learn about history and dream about how we can be leaders too!
- George Washington was our very first president, and you can see his face on the dollar bill.
- Abraham Lincoln was our sixteenth president, and he was very tall and wore a big black hat.
- There have been more than 45 presidents in our country’s history!
