Wangari Maathai was a scientist who was a great friend to our planet! She started a movement to plant millions of trees in Africa. Wangari taught us that planting just one little tree can help change the whole world!
When Wangari noticed that many trees were being cut down and the land was getting dry, she decided to take action. She started a wonderful group called the Green Belt Movement and taught people how to plant tiny seeds to grow new trees! Together, they planted over 51 million trees.
