Buzz Aldrin is a brave astronaut who is most famous for being the second person ever to walk on the Moon! He helped plant the American flag on the Moon’s surface for everyone to see. Today, he encourages kids to dream big about traveling to Mars and beyond!

Buzz was born on January 20, 1930, in New Jersey. Before flying to the Moon, Buzz was a pilot in the Air Force and flew many important missions. He also went to a big school called MIT where he learned how spaceships can safely find each other in outer space. All of his hard work and studying prepared him for the greatest adventure of all!

Buzz flew to the Moon on the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins. When he stepped onto the Moon’s surface, he looked around at the craters and rocks in amazement! He and Neil spent about two hours walking on the Moon, collecting rocks and doing experiments. Today, Buzz writes books and talks to kids about the wonders of space exploration!
