Donkeys are usually gray or brown with a white belly. They have very long ears and a short, bristly mane. A baby donkey is called a foal, just like a baby horse. Donkeys are smaller than horses but very strong for their size.
Donkeys eat grass, hay, and straw. They do not need as much food as horses because their bodies are very good at using every bit of nutrition. Donkeys also like to snack on carrots and apples as a treat.
