Crossing guards are very special helpers in our community. They wear bright colors so that drivers can see them from far away. They are always ready to help us near our schools every single day.
When it is time to cross the street, crossing guards hold up a big, red STOP sign. This tells all the cars to wait while children walk safely to the other side of the road. They smile and wave as they keep us safe from the cars. They work hard every morning and afternoon to make sure we get to school and back home safely.
Crossing guards keep children safe near busy roads and streets. Without them, it would be much harder to cross the street near school. It is always nice to say “thank you” to a crossing guard for keeping us safe.
- Crossing guards work in rain, snow, and sunshine to keep kids safe.
