Truffles are some of the most special and mysterious mushrooms in the whole world because they grow completely underground where nobody can see them! They hide near the roots of certain trees, like oak and hazelnut trees, and they look like small, bumpy, lumpy stones.

Truffles can be black, brown, or white, and they grow in many countries, especially in France and Italy. There are over 100 different kinds of truffles. They are best friends with the trees they grow near, and they share food with each other underground through their roots.
