Banff National Park is in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. It was the first national park ever created in Canada, all the way back in 1885. The park is famous for its bright blue-green lakes. The water gets its amazing color from tiny bits of rock ground up by glaciers.
Grizzly bears, elk, mountain goats, and wolves all live in the park. Lake Louise is one of the most visited spots. In winter, the lake freezes solid and people can walk right on top of it. Visitors can hike on trails, soak in natural hot springs, and watch for wildlife.
- The hot springs are pools of warm water that bubble up from deep underground.
- Banff is about the same size as the entire city of Los Angeles!
- The mountains around it are covered in snow for much of the year.
