The Sydney Opera House is a famous building in Sydney, Australia. It sits right on the edge of Sydney Harbour, surrounded by water on three sides. It opened in 1973 and took 16 years to build. A Danish architect named Jorn Utzon designed it.
The roof is made of white concrete shells that look like giant sails or seashells. There are over one million roof tiles covering those shells. The building is 600 feet long and 394 feet wide. Inside, there are several performance halls where people watch concerts, operas, and plays.
