The Eiffel Tower is a tall iron tower in Paris, France. It was built in 1889 for a big world’s fair. A man named Gustave Eiffel designed it, and that is how it got its name. The tower is 1,083 feet tall, which makes it about as tall as an 80-story building.

The Eiffel Tower is made of 18,038 pieces of iron held together by 2.5 million rivets. It weighs about 10,000 tons, which is as heavy as 1,500 elephants. Workers built it in just two years, which was very fast for such a big project.
