Martin Luther King Jr. was a powerful leader who wanted everyone in America to be treated fairly! He had a big dream of a world where all children could play together and be friends, no matter what they looked like. Instead of fighting with his hands, he used his voice and his heart to bring people together. Dr. King is one of the most important heroes in American history!

When Martin was a little boy in Atlanta, Georgia, his best friend’s parents told him he could not play with his friend anymore just because they looked different. Martin thought that was terribly unfair, and he decided he would grow up and change the rules! He loved to read and was so smart that he skipped two grades in school. He became a minister at a church, just like his father, and started teaching people that they should love each other and work together in peace.
