Florence Nightingale was a wonderful nurse who completely changed how we take care of sick people! She became known as the “Lady with the Lamp” for her kindness and hard work. Thanks to Florence, hospitals today are safe, clean places where we can get better!
When a big war broke out, Florence traveled far from home to help wounded soldiers in dirty, crowded hospitals. She made sure everything was clean, opened windows for fresh air, and fed the soldiers healthy food. She worked day and night, walking through the dark hospital with a little lamp to check on everyone. Florence also started the first real school for nurses so other people could learn the right way to care for the sick!
