Ludwig van Beethoven was a brilliant musician who wrote some of the most famous music in the world! His music could sound very quiet and sweet, or very loud and stormy. We remember Beethoven for his beautiful melodies and his courage!
Beethoven loved to write big, exciting songs for huge groups of instruments called orchestras. As he got older, something very sad happened, and he lost his hearing. But even though he could not hear the sounds anymore, he kept writing music by feeling the vibrations of the notes! He never gave up, and he wrote some of his happiest songs when he was completely deaf.
