Toucans are tropical birds with very big, colorful beaks! Even though their beaks look heavy, they are actually very light. Toucans are fun, colorful, and one of the most recognizable birds that live in the rainforest.
Toucan beaks can be red, orange, yellow, and green. Their bodies are mostly black with a bright white or yellow chest. Toucans use their long beaks to reach fruit on branches far away that other birds cannot get to.
- Toucans eat fruit, bugs, and sometimes small lizards.
- At night, toucans sleep in holes in trees and tuck their big beaks under their wings over their backs to sleep!
- They are very noisy birds and love to call out loud sounds!
- Toucans use their big beaks to stay cool by sending extra body heat out through them, like a built-in air conditioner.
