Hanukkah is a happy holiday called the Festival of Lights. It lasts for eight nights! Each night, families light a candle on a special candle holder called a menorah. They use one tall “helper” candle to light all the others. The candles look so pretty and bright as they glow in the window.
Families celebrate Hanukkah by playing games and eating yummy treats. One fun game uses a spinning top called a dreidel. Many people also eat crispy potato pancakes called latkes and sweet jelly donuts. Hanukkah is a wonderful time to share gifts and spend time with family and friends!
