Long ago, things were very different from how they are today! People did not have cars or buses to take them places. Instead, they walked or rode in a wagon pulled by a horse. At night, there were no light switches to flip. Families used flickering candles or oil lamps to see in the dark. It was a very cozy way to spend the evening together!
In school, children of all ages sat in just one room together. Instead of using iPads or paper, students wrote on small pieces of stone called slates with pieces of chalk. During recess, they played with simple toys like wooden hoops, jump ropes, and marbles. Even though they didn’t have video games, they had so much fun playing outside with their friends!
