Crossing guards are very special helpers in our community. They wear bright colors so that drivers can see them from far away. When it is time to cross the street, they hold up a big, red STOP sign! This tells all the cars to wait while children walk safely to the other side of the road.
Crossing guards are always ready to help us near our schools. They smile and wave as they keep us safe from the cars. Crossing guards are our friends, and they work hard every day to make sure we get to school and back home safely. It is always nice to say “thank you” to a crossing guard!
