Clover is a small, friendly plant that grows in big soft patches in the grass, and you have probably seen it in your own yard or at the park! Most clovers have three round leaves, but if you are very, very lucky, you might find a rare four-leaf clover. Finding one is supposed to bring you good luck! The chances of finding a four-leaf clover are about 1 in 5,000, so you really have to search hard. The world record for the most leaves on a single clover is an amazing 56 leaves, which was found in Japan!
Clover grows cute, round, fluffy flowers that can be white, pink, or even reddish-purple. Bees absolutely love clover flowers because they are bursting with sweet nectar, and much of the honey we eat was made by bees visiting clover. Just like lupines, clover is a superhero plant that can take nitrogen from the air and add it to the soil, which helps the grass and other plants around it grow stronger and greener. Farmers sometimes plant clover on purpose to make their fields healthier. You might also see rabbits nibbling on clover because it is one of their favorite snacks, and it is safe and yummy for them to eat!
