Cupertino is a city in California, right in the middle of Silicon Valley. About 60,000 people live there. It is most famous for being the home of Apple, the company that makes iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers! Cupertino has great schools, pretty parks, and lots of trees.
The most famous place in Cupertino is Apple Park, where Apple has its headquarters. The main building is shaped like a giant ring and is so big that over 12,000 people work inside it! There is also the Apple Park Visitor Center, where anyone can visit and see Apple products. Memorial Park is a fun place with playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields where kids love to play.
Long ago, the Ohlone people lived in this area for thousands of years. They hunted, fished, and gathered acorns near the creeks. In the 1700s, Spanish explorers came through the valley. The area was later named after a saint called Saint Joseph of Cupertino. For many years, Cupertino was a farming town with orchards full of cherry, plum, and apricot trees. In 1955, Cupertino became an official city. Then in 1977, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs started Apple Computer in a garage nearby, and the city slowly became the technology capital it is today!
