Colds are caused by tiny germs called viruses that are so small you cannot see them! These viruses can travel through the air when someone coughs or sneezes. Getting a cold is very common, especially during the colder months of the year.
Cold viruses can live on things like doorknobs and toys. If you touch something with cold germs on it and then touch your nose or eyes, the virus can sneak into your body. When you catch a cold, your nose might get stuffy or runny, and your throat might feel scratchy!
The good news is that your body is really good at fighting off cold viruses. Resting, drinking lots of water, and letting a grownup take care of you will help you feel better in about a week. You can also help stop colds from spreading by washing your hands often and sneezing into your elbow!
