Growing kids like you need a lot of sleep every single night to stay healthy and strong! Your body is working very hard all day to learn new things, run fast, and grow taller. To do all that amazing work, you need about nine to twelve hours of sleep each night.
Your body uses sleep time to grow, heal, and store all the things you learned during the day. When you get enough sleep, you wake up feeling happy, full of energy, and ready for school. If you stay up too late, you might feel grumpy or have a hard time paying attention.
Getting plenty of sleep is the secret to being healthy and doing well in school! Sleep helps your brain remember what you learned and helps your body fight off germs. Without enough sleep, everything feels harder than it should.
- Kids need more sleep than grownups because their bodies and brains are still growing!
- A cat sleeps about 15 hours a day, and a koala sleeps about 22 hours a day.
- By the time you are 10 years old, you will have spent about 4 years of your life sleeping!
