How Helping Others Helps You Too

When you help someone, something amazing happens inside your brain. Your brain releases chemicals called endorphins that make you feel happy and warm. Scientists call this good feeling the “helper’s high.” A researcher named Allan Luks first described the helper’s high in 1988 after studying thousands of volunteers.

The helper’s high is real! When you do something kind for another person, your brain rewards you with those happy chemicals. That is why helping others does not just help them. It helps you too!
