Christa McAuliffe was a very brave teacher who loved sharing history and science with her students! She was chosen out of thousands of teachers to be the very first teacher to travel into space. Christa trained very hard with astronauts to ride on a giant space shuttle called the Challenger. She wanted to teach her lessons all the way from outer space so kids everywhere could learn about the stars!
Even though her space trip had a very sad ending, Christa is remembered as a true hero. She showed the world that teachers are amazing and that exploring space is important for everyone. Schools and learning centers all over the country are named after her today. Christa taught us to always reach for the stars and follow our biggest dreams!
