Mary Anning was a fantastic fossil hunter who lived a long time ago by the ocean! When she was just a little girl, she loved walking on the beach with her dad to look for interesting rocks and seashells. She had very sharp eyes and started finding the bones of giant sea creatures that lived millions of years ago. Mary carefully dug them out of the cliffs and showed them to the world!
Mary discovered the very first complete skeleton of a swimming dinosaur called an Ichthyosaur! Even though she didn’t go to school for science, her amazing discoveries helped people understand what life was like in the past. Scientists came from all over to see the incredible fossils she found. Today, we remember Mary as one of the greatest fossil finders ever!
