Queen Victoria was the queen of England for 63 years! That is longer than almost any other king or queen in history. She became queen when she was only 18 years old. The time when she ruled is called the Victorian era because so many new things happened while she was in charge!
Victoria became queen in 1837 and led England through a time of huge changes! During her reign, trains and railroads spread across the country, and new inventions like the telephone were created. She married Prince Albert and they had nine children together! Her children and grandchildren married into royal families all across Europe, so she was called the “Grandmother of Europe.”
- Queen Victoria was one of the first people to use a train!
- She loved to write and kept a diary for most of her life, filling up more than 100 journals.
- She started the tradition of wearing a white wedding dress, and brides still do that today!
- The famous Albert Hall in London was named after her husband Prince Albert.
