Dolores Huerta is a brave leader who worked really hard to help farmers and workers in our country! When she was growing up, her family taught her that everyone should be treated fairly and nicely. She saw that the people who picked fruits and vegetables in the fields weren’t getting paid enough money and were working in unsafe places. So, she decided to speak up in a loud, strong voice and make sure they got the help they needed!
Dolores is famous for starting a special group to protect farm workers and fighting for their rights! She also came up with a really famous cheer: ‘¡Sí se puede!’ which means ‘Yes, it can be done!’ in Spanish. She even helped make laws to keep families healthy and happy while they work. Dolores shows us that if we stand up for others and work together, we can fix big problems!
