Matthew Henson was a very brave explorer who loved the cold ice and snow! He traveled on many big ships to explore places all over the world. He was very good at building sleds and driving teams of fluffy dogs! Matthew learned how to speak the language of the Inuit people who lived in the cold.
Matthew went on a very famous trip to the very top of the world! He and his friend Robert Peary wanted to be the first people to reach the North Pole. Matthew was so fast and strong that he was the first one to step on the North Pole! He was an amazing hero who showed us how to be brave!
