Patch Adams is a very special kind of doctor who believes that laughter is the best medicine! When he was studying to become a doctor, he realized that people feel much better when they are happy and having fun. So, instead of just wearing a regular white doctor’s coat, he sometimes wears a red clown nose and silly clothes to make his patients giggle!
In 1971, Patch and his friends started an amazing place called the Gesundheit! Institute. It is a very unique hospital where doctors use medicine, humor, and lots of love to help people heal, and they don’t even charge people money! Patch travels all around the world dressed as a clown to bring smiles and joy to kids and adults who are feeling sick or sad!
