Tomie dePaola was a fantastic artist and writer who created hundreds of colorful picture books! When he was just four years old, he told his family that he was going to be an artist when he grew up. He kept his promise and loved to draw happy, round people with rosy cheeks! He used beautiful paints to make his pictures look soft, friendly, and very cozy.
Tomie wrote wonderful stories about his own family, his sweet grandmother, and a funny, magical lady named Strega Nona! Strega Nona had a magic pasta pot that made kids everywhere laugh out loud. His books are full of love, family, and sharing good food with friends. We remember Tomie for bringing so much happiness and giggles to reading time!
