People have been painting with nature for a very long time. Thousands of years ago, cave people crushed up rocks and mixed them with water to make paint. They painted animals and people on cave walls using these natural colors.
Nature is full of colors you can use for painting! Smash some blueberries and you get a pretty purple color. Squish raspberries or strawberries to make pink or red. Yellow can come from dandelion flowers or turmeric spice.
Brown and orange come from dirt and clay. You can even make black by mixing water with charcoal from a campfire. Green comes from crushing grass or spinach leaves. Nature gives us every color of the rainbow!
Painting with nature is easy and fun. First, go outside and collect things like leaves, flowers, berries, and mud. Then mash them up in a bowl and add a little water to make your paint smooth.
You can use sticks, feathers, or even your fingers as paintbrushes! Dip a leaf in your paint and press it on paper to make a leaf print. Try painting on rocks, paper bags, or cardboard. There is no wrong way to paint with nature!
