Salamanders are small animals that look a little like lizards, but they have smooth, wet skin. They like to hide under rocks and logs in cool, damp places. Some salamanders are spotted and some have bright stripes.
Salamanders have an amazing superpower. If they lose their tail, they can grow a brand new one! Baby salamanders start their life in the water and breathe with gills, just like fish.
