The tapir is a funny-looking animal with a short, wiggly nose that looks like a tiny trunk! It uses its nose to grab leaves and fruit. Tapirs are about the size of a big pig. They may look slow, but they can run fast when they need to!
Tapirs love to swim and splash in rivers and ponds. The water helps them cool off on hot days. Baby tapirs have stripes and spots on their fur to help them hide. As they grow up, the spots go away and their fur turns dark brown or black.
