Meerkats are small, furry animals that stand up on their back legs to look around. They have pointy noses, dark eyes, and dark patches around their eyes that work like sunglasses. Meerkats are only about as tall as a ruler. They are very cute and very curious!
Meerkats live in big family groups in the desert parts of Africa. They take turns standing guard to watch for danger while the others look for food. Meerkats eat bugs, lizards, and seeds. They live in underground tunnels that have many rooms, like a little house under the dirt.
